CH-53 Kimberlite
*Information in this current blog is based on information obtained up to mid 2018 and should be considered legacy at this time and should no longer be relied upon.*
This kimberlite was discovered during the 2011 exploration program using the core drill rig.
Caustic testing was completed and this was one of the kimberlites determined to be barren (no diamonds contained in the sample sent to the SRC).
Discovery news release -- June 2 2011
Excerpt:
"The CH-53 kimberlite was discovered by drilling one core hole at an
inclination of -50 degrees into a magnetic high anomaly located
approximately five kilometres northeast of CH-28. The hole intersected 8
metres of ice and water, followed by 40 metres of overburden and 32
metres of gneiss. Kimberlite was intersected from 80 to 170 metres, and
the hole was terminated at 215 metres. Based on interpretation of the
ground geophysical and drill data, CH-53 has an estimated surface
expression of one hectare."

Based on the images, this is the farther to the North kimberlite in all of Chidliak.
It is a bit NE of CH-28, which did return significant results.
No work will be done on this kimberlite going forward...this leaves CH-28 as a standalone satellite operation for Chidliak.
